The Sleeper's Temple
An excerpt from My Epic Poem Hypnos Hermes I spot a Stupa’s curve, Rising like a sleeper’s elbow That shifts before waking, As the dream falls below. I approach the gentle edifice. Sun needles tickle sculpted sides, Frescoes wriggle in a single wave. A moving map of history's tides. Steps climb, circle slowly, Their elegance belying A gymnasts' pyramid effort, Little bricks – united, clinging.
