September Slipping
The autumn equinox - one of my favourite times of the year - and one which we neglect to celebrate unlike Easter (Spring Equinox) and Christmas (Winter Solstice). From the Sovereigns of the Seasons collection
September Slipping
September tips past adolescence,
I plead the skies that I may know
Of day and night in perfect balance.
Summer slows, autumn flows.
We breathe, we still, we look upon
The waning light’s gentle glow.
Patient rains and passion sun
Bind together in my circle,
Broaden, beautify my horizons.
The world is ripe and ample.
Gifts of the fields and trees,
Pumpkin, Scarlet, and Purple
Harvest jewels feed the eyes,
Scent and flavour feed my soul.
I thank and praise the skies.
Attention, Action, I still, control.
Equilibrium of my essences,
Clashing colours, gentle, whole.
