An excerpt from my illuminated poetry book Hypnos Hermes
Peat fumes sting my throat,
Lungs struggle with sudden freedom.
The room’s soothing symmetry
Buckles in my collapsing perception.
Floors warp and walls fold.
Skin and reason pinched by winds.
History's crushing weight falls
Pushing the present below, behind.
Seasons speed right to left,
Snow and ice to Regal leaves,
Rose blooms to green shoots
The earth relives its memories.
The sunlit illusion has spilled over,
Seeps the forest, soaks fingers,
Quenches my body and brain
Thirst repressed, now remembers.
Intellect and rationale regress
To empower instinct and action.
This prosaic player forced into focus,
Seeks survival and risks ruin.
Running, steering, sliding, recovering.
Shifted soil, broken branches
Whisper betrayal of my careful quarry.
Old, cunning but within my new reach…
Hypnos Hermes is an illustrated epic poem that will take you to a world of brave knights, terrible monsters, and enigmatic witches.

Fantastic - the more I learn about writing poetry, the more I appreciate your poems, alliteration, assonance, feminine rhyming, etc. Makes me want to revisit these over and over.
